Budget Sports Bar Web Video and TV Spots
A small growing sports bar chain hired the Web Video Ninja director and Producer to develop an inexpensive series of videos they could use on a local level as viral videos and television spots. Since it was a sports bar most of the videos were designed around a sports themed and utilized local talent. The voice over tracks were created by the well known and syndicated Kevin McCarty who is our close friend and at our disposal.
Graphics were again pulled from existing print work and shooting was done in the field… sometimes literally.

The goal was to create a series of sports related humorous commercials that would get people talking at the water cooler. The result is a series of simple and fun promotional spots that Fox is still running today on a local level in the St Louis area.

Aliens Meet Shuttle Pilots
This commercial was created utilizing a set, props and actors from a low budget film our group was working on. We simply wrote a few fun skits and had some fun reusing the animation, shuttle set, shuttle uniforms, alien animatronics, alien set and a few special effects. For an agency or studio to create this we could have probably bought one of the Sports Bar locations. We did get free drinks for a while after this one.

Playing Ball With the Girls Team
Since local St Louis radio personality Katy Kruze was a star in many of voice overs we decided to use her acting talents for this spot. The shooting took place on a recreation center ball field and took only a few hours to shoot. The actors are all a part of “our little family” and appear in many television spots both local to St. Louis and international. Even though we are now based in Los Angeles we still have access to them and many new talented friends and associates here as well.

Unreal Hockey
Again it pays to be creative. The owner of the sports bar just happened to be a major sponsor for the local hockey center and was able to get us full use of a professional hockey ice rink. The hockey team is a group of friends and film makers who jumped at the chance to hit the ice. We traded there time for a quick fun shoot and they got to have a practice in a real rink. Shooting on the ice was allot of slick exciting fun and the actors were great. Nobody was injured during the making of this commercial accept for film maker Tim Burke who took an obviously staged spill, it couldn’t have hurt bad he did it 4 or 5 times.

Touch Football?
The football series was shot on the same day as the Softball spot and with the same crew equipment and many of the same actors. As with the baseball spots we used only available lighting with and only a few reflectors. The footage was all shot on MiniDv and we used some tricks, settings and filters so that the original footage looks like t was shot on expensive film. Much of this shoot takes place in a very small area and force perspective techniques were used to “cheat” the subjects. Voices were recreated in post which is referred to as “ADR” in the industry.

Basketball
The Basketball series was shot in a YMCA gymnasium up the street from our special effects studio in St Louis. Many of the same actors were used since they were also part of the camera crew, animators and editors. The same cameras and techniques were used to produce the series of basketball skits as in the previous examples. James even snuck into this one and they all handed the camera back and forth to shoot each other trying to play basketball.
